Dear Editor:
I am a teacher with 18 years of experience in teaching students in Grades 6 and 7.
I am greatly offended by what Lorne E. Dennis had to say in his March 7 letter to the editor , Teachers Never Had It So Good. He makes many statements about his schooling from days past when there were no computers, no professional days, 40-45 students in his class and a dress code. Times have changed.
Mr. Dennis also makes the statement that "years ago the teachers were a more friendly bunch than they are now." I am not an unfriendly teacher or person, but I teach my students about appropriate attire. Most importantly, it seems that Mr. Dennis has no real understanding how important education should be esteemed in our country.
Perhaps he should himself look into how the provincial government spends his money - my classroom, built with government money, doesn't have room for 45 students. I invite Mr. Dennis to come and spend time in my classroom and see what learning is about in 2012. My students would put the comments of Mr. Dennis to shame.
