Credibility not about money

Dear Editor: In your Sunday, Nov. 6 editorial Office Space, you state that there is "no credible threat" to the incumbent in the City of North Vancouver mayoralty race.

Dear Editor:

In your Sunday, Nov. 6 editorial Office Space, you state that there is "no credible threat" to the incumbent in the City of North Vancouver mayoralty race.

My question: On what are you basing that statement? When I threw my hat into the ring, the first official email I received was from the North Shore News detailing your advertising rates - not a request to interview someone who was willing to put life on hold to seek public office.

It would seem that credibility only lies with those who have the biggest war chest to finance their campaign. Your statement that there is a "lack of choice" in this election may really mean there is a lack of advertising dollars amongst candidates who don't have connections to private interest groups with deep pockets.

This does not mean that other candidates do not have qualifications, relevant experience, commitment, determination and an honest desire to do what is right for this community.
