Dear Editor:
I just finished reading about the rise in youth homelessnes (Homeless Youth on the Rise, North Shore News, July 10). All I can say is that this problem would not be in the forefront if rents were not so high and if the wages that people are working for would be in scale with the times.
Also, the perception people have is that homeless people must be either drug addicts, mentally unstable or drunks. While there may be some of those out there, the majority are people who have had a run in with bad luck.
How do I know? I was homeless about 15 years ago.
