Dear Editor:
Kudos to the young woman on the Westlynn bus who gave a toonie to a foreign student to help cover the fare on a recent Monday morning, only to leave herself short.
A third stranger stepped in and gave her a toonie, but the bus driver told the young woman she was still short. She asked: "Will you wait while I run to the machine (mere feet away) and get a ticket?" and he replied "No. We're already two or three minutes late, thanks to all this," and off he took leaving the young woman on the platform.
It would be sad to think that such a damp experience might colour any future decision to help someone in need. I hope her kind spirit will not give way to cynical disinterest.
