Dear Editor:
I was made aware of how isolated, and thus scary, a place Phibbs Exchange can be the very first time I waited there for a bus a number of years ago (Making Phibbs Less 'Scary', June 17, North Shore News). I've never liked the energy at Phibbs and still don't feel 100 per cent comfortable there, particularly late at night, alone.
I was also made aware of how extremely drafty a place it is, as it is quite an open space. It has little protection from inclement weather, especially from the bitter cold. I also noticed the lack of a public washroom nearby. A 24-hour shop such as Tim Hortons - with hot coffee and soup! - could remedy that. With an almost-half-hour wait - if not more depending on previous bus connections or delays - it would be a wonderful welcome.
I hope these issues can be addressed to make Phibbs Exchange be a more secure and welcoming public place for passengers who have to hang around waiting for buses.
