A neighbourhood in need of potholes

Dear Editor: I would like to take this opportunity to say how much I appreciate the road construction on Kirkstone Road in North Vancouver.

Dear Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to say how much I appreciate the road construction on Kirkstone Road in North Vancouver.

The traffic is now moving at a much more reasonable speed with respect to the park and the crosswalk (where attempting to cross is dangerous at best). I suggest Kirkstone remain in this state of roughness; it slows cars down. We could even take it one step further and remove all pavement entirely. Gravel roads are green; potholes are natural speed bumps.

Our street is a cut-through from Kirkstone to Lynn Valley Road. It is not unusual for cars to drive past at speeds in excess of 80 kilometres per hour while our children play in the front yard. We have requested traffic-calming measures, and I understand these measures are pending. If you want to rip up our street and leave it dirt and gravel, the sooner the better.

I appreciate well maintained roads, but safety should take priority over the movement of traffic.
