LONDON — A London, Ont., man has been charged after police allege he sexually assaulted a nine-year-old girl in the city's south end over the weekend.
Police say the girl was out riding her bike shortly after 8 p.m. on Sunday when a man asked her to stop and talk.
They say that when she stopped, the man sexually assaulted her.
Investigators say the girl's father was out looking to bring her home for the night and witnessed the alleged sexual assault.
Police say the father yelled out and ran toward them, and the suspect ran away but was arrested a short time later.
The suspect, a 22-year-old man, is facing one count of sexual assault on a person under 16 and is set to appear in court Wednesday.
