What is the single biggest challenge facing the school district and how will you achieve a solution? The trend of personalized learning will continue to grow as more students register for specialty programs in addition to their traditional learning portfolios. New, for-credit courses offered by our district include Robotics, Animation, Environmental Science, Yoga Instruction, Carpentry, Fencing and Honour Choir alongside a wide array of athletic-based academies.

What are your thoughts on the province’s new curriculum? I am confident that the fundamentals of numeracy/literacy remain a priority alongside new approaches to teaching core competencies like critical thinking, collaboration and personal responsibility.

Why do we need a school board when so much is dictated by the province?  Local leadership matters in a large provincial system with 550,000 students. A Trustee's personal connection with his/her district leads to better governance of public schools.
