For how long have you lived in the district? 53 years
Incumbent: Years on council? 7 years
Is the present council effectively managing growth in the municipality? Our new OCP proposes a slow, thoughtful growth rate for 25 years, and new development in the near future will be near transit hubs (except the British Properties). Current traffic concerns are a result of PAST growth management i.e. we have mostly single family homes which require cars for transport.
Should West Vancouver take steps to curb vacant homes, housing speculation and/or foreign ownership and if so, how? We can’t, these are provincial/federal governments’ jurisdiction, however, I have advocated strongly on these issues, and province will introduce a vacant homes/speculation tax this month!
What is your vision for the Ambleside waterfront? Preserve for all to enjoy; as a safe and social area for strolling, exercising, picnicking, and special events, including the Spirit Trail, public art, the Nature House, and non-motorised water sports, supported by nearby businesses. Restaurant & casual eatery in place of the current “concession” building, possibly an artistic centre.
What are your priorities if elected? Implement new OCP; diverse housing near improved public transit & services, protect natural & heritage assets, decrease GHG emissions, support arts, culture and local businesses.
