Residents in the farthest reaches of West Vancouver have access to potable H20 again after a water main break left their taps dry for three days.

Early Sunday morning, crews discovered a sudden drop in water levels at the Montizabert Water Treatment Plant, located north of Horseshoe Bay.

It took some time but crews eventually pinpointed a leak in the system south of the highway near Lawrence Way. While they worked to repair the pipe, nearly 70 properties on Lawrence, Pasco Road, Bedora Place, Ansell Place and Citrus Wynd had no water.

“Water mains in this area are located deep below the surface, making it challenging for our crews to locate the break and complete repairs. We recognize the significant impact this has caused for affected residents and we thank you for your continued patience,” a message from the district stated at the time.

Crews worked overnight to dig up and repair the broken main.

District staff went door to door to distribute large containers of drinking water and provided a filling station for non-potable water for toilets.

By Tuesday afternoon, the last of the homes were connected and water was tested and approved for consumption.
