North Vancouver RCMP have arrested three suspects believed to be responsible for a string of knifepoint robberies that were subject of a recent public warning.

Police arrested the trio following an investigation into eight knifepoint stick-ups at gas stations, convenience stores and fast food restaurants, which started April 3.

Five of the robberies happened within the first three days, mostly in Lynn Valley, said Sgt. Peter DeVries, North Vancouver RCMP spokesman.

In each case, the suspect wore a mask over the lower half of his face and a hood over his head. He demanded the clerk hand over cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes before fleeing on foot.

Police put out a warning to local businesses last week, asking for any information that would help identify a suspect.

“You came through, and we want to say thank you," said DeVries.

Although three people were arrested – and have since been released – no charges have been laid yet and the investigation is continuing, said DeVries.
