North Van home damaged in fire

District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue crews quickly doused an Upper Lonsdale house fire Monday afternoon, but not before it dealt significant damage to the interior of the home.

When crews arrived on the 4000 block of St. Georges Avenue, they could see smoke pouring out. Thankfully, the residents had made it safely outside.

“(Crews) did a quick hit on it and knocked the fire down pretty quickly. But the house was fully charged with smoke, so it's taken a while to search the house and clear the smoke,” said assistant fire chief David Dales. “The house isn't destroyed or anything, but the house will be unoccupied for probably a month.”

It’s too soon to say what caused the blaze or even what room it started in, Dales added.
