QMJHL roundup: Phoenix score early, often in beating Drakkar 6-2

SHERBROOKE, Que.

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Anthony Munroe-Boucher and Joshua Roy each scored twice and added an assist, the Phoenix scored four unanswered goals in the first period and Sherbrooke skated to a 6-2 victory over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Sunday.

Israel Mianscum, Justin Gill, Milo Roelens and Ethan Gauthier also scored for the Phoenix (6-0-1), while Felix Gagnon and Isaac Dufort had the Drakkar (4-2) goals.

Sherbrooke outshot Baie-Comeau 47-17.

SAGUENEENS 6 ARMADA 2

Special teams did their job Sunday as the Chicoutimi Sagueneens won their first game of the QMJHL season by defeating the visiting Blainville-Boisbriand 6-2.

The Sagueneens had three power-play goals and one short-handed marker to improve to 1-5.

Etienne Tremblay-Mathieu, Fabrice Fortin, Jacob Newcombe, Andrei Loshko, Marc-Andre Gaudet and Antoine Desrochers scored for the Sagueneens, who outshot the visitors 36-26.

Josh Lawrence and Alexis Gendron scored for the Armada (4-3).

WILDCATS 6 VOLTIGEURS 3

Yoan Loshing had a goal and three assists, Etienne Morin had four assists, Maxim Barbashev had two goals and the visiting Moncton Wildcats defeated the Drummondville Voltigeurs 6-3.

Sidney Deslauriers, Maxim Barbashev, Vincent Labelle and Thomas Auger also scored for the Wildcats (2-3), while Jeremy Lapointe, Nino Tomov and Sam Oliver scored for the Voltigeurs (2-4).
