SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Maritime Junior Hockey League has announced a confirmed case of COVID-19 involving a member of the Summerside Western Capitals and postponed six of their games.

In a post on its Facebook page, the league says the team member tested positive during routine testing on Monday.

It says the Capitals have been following the strict work isolation protocol set out by Prince Edward Island's chief public health officer and team members are tested twice each week.

Players and staff now must isolate for 14 days, and an announcement will be made when postponed games are rescheduled.

To protect the privacy of players and team personnel, details including names will not be released.

Summerside played in Amherst last Friday, and the league's chief medical officer has recommended that the Amherst Jr. 'A' Ramblers undergo COVID-19 testing.
