WASHINGTON — Canadian international prop Jake Ilnicki has signed with Old Glory DC for the 2022 Major League Rugby season.

The 29-year-old from Williams Lake, B.C., comes from the Seattle Seawolves, part of a rugby journey that has taken the five-foot-11 258-pounder to Australia (New South Wales Country Eagles), the U.S. (San Diego Breakers in the now-defunct PRO League), New Zealand (Manawatu Turbos) and England (Northampton, Newcastle and Yorkshire Carnegie).

“Jake is a great addition to Old Glory,” head coach Andrew Douglas said in a statement. “He's an experienced international tighthead prop who will bring depth to OG. His strong work ethic, intelligence, and ability to relate to all players will be great ingredients to the team. He’s renowned as a great team man, and that’s exactly what Old Glory needs.”

Ilnicki has won 42 caps for Canada.

He made his debut in November 2013 against Georgia in Tbilisi in an ill-tempered game that saw an all-out brawl after Canada's Liam Underwood was clotheslined by a Georgian player. A player from each side was red-carded and Ilnicki came on to replace a bloodied Andrew Tiedemann in what turned out to be a 19-15 Canada loss.
