A popular North Vancouver fundraising run that has gone virtual the past two years is ready to roll with a full in-person event once again this weekend.
The Strachan Hartley Legacy Foundation Run will hit the streets and trails around Ecole Handsworth Secondary this Sunday (Oct. 16), raising funds for Streetfront, an East Vancouver alternative school program that welcomes at-risk youth who have not succeeded in mainstream schools.
Participants can choose from the 10-kilometre run, a stroller- and kid-friendly five-kilometre run, or a Kids Fun race.
Last year’s virtual race raised $42,000 for Streetfront, while the event has raised more than $450,000 since the inaugural run in 2007.
The run is held in honour of Dr. Strachan Hartley, a North Vancouverite and Handsworth grad who died of cancer at age 30 in 2007. The Strachan Hartley Legacy Foundation focuses on providing youth the opportunity to achieve their full potential through sports and education.
The races kick off at 9:15 a.m. at Handsworth. Details and registration information can be found on the race website.
