The biggest week of boys basketball on the North Shore comes to a boil over the next few days at the Howe Sound Championships as championship banners and tickets to provincials are handed out at four different levels.

It’s time to crown some champions. Here’s the rundown:

AAAA final: Handsworth vs. West Van/Carson Graham, Wednesday, Feb. 28, 7:45 p.m. at Handsworth Secondary

The Handsworth Royals came into the Howe Sound Championships ranked No. 6 in the province with some big wins under their belts, including a golden showing at the prestigious BRIT tournament in Saskatoon in January. They scored comfortable playoff wins over Sentinel and Carson Graham to make Wednesday night’s final.

The Royals will face the winner of a game played between the Carson Graham Eagles and West Vancouver tonight starting at 7:45 p.m. at Handsworth Secondary. Carson and West Van posted identical 3-3 records during the regular season, and the Eagles scored a one-point win over the Highlanders to open the playoffs Feb. 21.

AAA final: Argyle vs. Bodwell/Howe Sound, Wednesday, Feb. 28, 6 p.m. at Handsworth Secondary

The Argyle Pipers have been a AAA juggernaut this season, coming into the playoffs ranked No. 3 in the province. They scored big wins over Windsor and Howe Sound Secondary to make Wednesday night’s championship final. They’ll play the winner of tonight’s matchup between Howe Sound and Bodwell, scheduled for 6 p.m. at Handsworth. Howe Sound and Bodwell met last week to open the double knockout tournament, with Howe Sound scoring an 80-75 win.

AA final: Friday, March 2, 5:15 p.m. at Seycove Secondary, teams TBD.

Four teams are still in the mix at the AA level heading into tonight’s games, led by the Seycove Seyhawks, ranked fifth in the province, and the ninth-ranked Collingwood Cavaliers. Those two teams will play tonight, 7 p.m. at Seycove, for an automatic berth into Friday’s final.

St. Thomas Aquinas and Elphinstone will also play tonight, 5:15 p.m. at Seycove, with the winner moving on to face the loser of the Seycove/Collingwood matchup with one last berth in the final on the line.

A final: Pender Harbour vs. Pemberton, Wednesday, Feb. 28, 4:15 p.m. at Handsworth.

The Sea to Sky school and Sunshine Coast school are going to meet in the middle Wednesday night to kick off a triple header at Handsworth. Get after it!
