A three point night from rookie defenceman Nathan Haaksma helped the North Van Wolf Pack score a 4-1 road win over the Surrey Knights Thursday at the North Surrey Rec Centre.
Haaksma notched a goal and two assists to earn first star honours while Justin Lee, Kyle Hoover and Caleb Holonko also found the back of the net. Wolf Pack goalkeeper Jonathan Holloway made 31 saves but had his shutout bid spoiled with 18 seconds left in the game.
Two nights later the Abbotsford Pilots, the top team in the Harold Brittain Conference, handed the Wolf Pack their first regulation home loss of the season by a score of 5-3. Nate McCarnon, Mitch Ledyard and Alex Brewster scored for North Van in the loss.
The Pack will have a tough test in their next game as they’ll host the league-leading Delta Ice Hawks Saturday at Harry Jerome Arena. The Hawks have 14 wins and one loss through their first 15 games and are currently five points ahead of second place North Van in the Tom Shaw Conference. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
