North Shore runners finish 1-2 in provincial 1,500-metre final

Doherty and Bates duel in one of the marquee events at BC High School Track and Field Championships

North Shore athletes set a blistering pace at the B.C. High School Track and Field Provincials held last weekend in Langley, led by a pair of middle distance masters in the senior boys category.

West Vancouver’s Aidan Doherty and Carson Graham’s Cameron Bates dueled in one of the meet’s marquee events, the senior boys 1,500-metre race, with Doherty grabbing gold just ahead of Bates. Doherty clocked a time of 4:10.96 while Bates was less than a second behind at 4:11.74.

Both runners train together with the North Shore’s Hershey Harriers athletic club.
