KidSport’s ninth annual Give the Gift of Sport campaign is underway with the objective of raising $250,000 nationwide by Jan 4.

More than 30 percent of Canadian youth under the age of 18 cannot afford to play organized sport. With the support of the Government of Canada, corporate partners, and the generosity of donors across the country, KidSport’s annual campaign aims to get more kids off the sidelines, into the game, and experience the gift of sport. To date the campaign has raised $65,346.

Delta is among 42 KidSport chapters across B.C. So far the chapter has helped 60 local children play 21 different sports for a total of $20,000 in grants.

“Organized sport provides kids with so many benefits. We know it helps them lead physically healthy lives, but it also helps with their mental health, education, social development, leadership, and ultimately with their sense of connection,” says Rob Newman, President of CEO of KidSport BC. “In essence, sport can provide our children with a head start on life. KidSport believes every child deserves the opportunity to experience these things and our 42 chapters are working to help British Columbian children off the side and into the game. By donating to our Give the Gift of Sport campaign, you can make this happen.”

By giving the gift of sport, you can help create lasting memories and fill the gap for kids who are facing financial barriers to sport participation.
