The Eagles have landed a coveted opportunity to play some football in the big house.

The Carson Graham Eagles booked a spot in the BC high school senior AA semifinals, to be held this weekend at BC Place, with a decisive 36-8 win over Parksville’s Ballenas Secondary Friday at Carson Graham.

Quarterback Logan Mellish put together a monster game, accounting for four touchdowns and two two-point converts with 353 passing yards and another 106 rushing yards. Aidan Nemeth led the way for Carson’s receivers, grabbing five catches for 107 yards and three touchdowns. Griffin Withers also caught five passes, racking up 114 yards, while Malek Gul hauled in two catches for 96 yards and a touchdown.

On the defensive end Vytor Oliveira registered nine tackles, Ryan Corda locked down five tackles and an interception, while Daniel Tshibang added three tackles and an interception.

The win earned the senior Eagles a trip to BC Place for a stadium semifinal showdown against undefeated Langley Secondary. Carson Graham played Langley in their first regular season game back in mid-September, with Langley coming away with a 50-6 win.

Kickoff for Saturday’s semifinal will be at 11 a.m. at BC Place.

At the junior level an all-North Shore semifinal is on the schedule for today.

The junior Eagles joined their senior counterparts in earning a berth in the AA semifinals, scoring a 32-16 playoff win over Holy Cross Nov. 17. They’ll face West Vancouver Secondary, a familiar North Shore foe, in today’s semifinal.

The junior Higlanders earned their semifinal berth with a 22-16 win over Argyle Nov. 17.

The Carson Graham vs. West Van junior semifinal will be held today at Burnaby Lakes Sports Complex West starting at 3:30 p.m.
