WEST Vancouver police are warning residents to be alert after two would-be break-in artists managed to get into a building after posing as FedEx couriers.
Officers arrested a man and a woman inside the apartment building in the 100-block of 18th Street after a suspicious resident called police.
The pair had earlier been asking residents to let them into the building, saying they were there to deliver a package.
"It is a common method used to get into a building," said Cst. Lisa Schmidtke of the West Vancouver Police Department.
Police responded to two more residential break-ins over the weekend. In both cases, the locks were forced, said Schmidtke.
Nearby, police also recovered a stolen Honda Civic containing stolen jewelry and alcohol.
The break-ins mark the latest in a rash daytime thefts in West Vancouver.
Schmidtke said officers have responded to 37 break-in calls in the past month. "That's a significant number," she said.
Thieves have taken cash, jewelry, alcohol and electronics.
Police are waiting for forensic evidence to determine if the break-ins may be linked.
