WV man faces assault charge

AN 18-year-old West Vancouver man who allegedly punched a police officer WV man has been charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

AN 18-year-old West Vancouver man who allegedly punched a police officer WV man has been charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

The punch-up happened near Lonsdale Quay after two plainclothes West Vancouver police officers went to the area to find Daniel Duff, who was wanted on a warrant and had been spotted in the area.

When they got to him, however, Duff allegedly turned around and threw a punch in one officer's face before taking off on foot.

While the injured police officer went to Lions Gate Hospital, a dog team was called in to locate Duff, who was found within a couple of blocks.

Duff was also taken up to the hospital as a result of being bitten by the police dog in the course of the arrest.
