WV Lambo owner can't afford fine

A West Vancouver Lamborghini owner left police in Richmond dumbfounded last week when he complained the ticket they issued him for failing to insure his ultra-high-end sports car was too expensive.

An RCMP officer pulled the 22-year-old over just before 6 p.m. Oct. 17 after noticing a problem with his licence plate, according to police. On talking to the driver, the Mountie quickly established the man's 2012 Lamborghini Aventador - which retails for as much as $400,000 - was uninsured, and handed him a ticket before having the car towed. The man reportedly didn't think that was fair.

"When the officer gave the driver a $568 fine for not having insurance," said Cpl. Robert McDonald, spokesman for the RCMP's Lower Mainland District Traffic Services, "the driver actually complained the fine was too much

money."
