THE grass is greener on the other side of a rebuild at the Shell gas station in Ambleside.
Shell wants to create a new gas station and convenience store with a green roof at 13th Street and Marine Drive in West Vancouver. The rebuild requires a rezoning, since the existing zoning doesn't allow for a convenience store usage. This is the second attempt by Shell to secure the rezoning. Residents raised concerns during a 2007 public hearing over the loss of the automotive repair, convenience store hours and whether the community needed the service. Council voted down the request that year, but in 2010 Shell made a second application.
A public hearing is set for Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
