West Vancouver police are warning construction companies after a series of small arsons on job sites since the weekend.

Police are investigating four fires that appear to have been deliberately set among construction supplies sometime Sunday and Monday.

Work crews reported fire damage on job sites on the 2700-block of Highview Place and the 1500-block of Chartwell Drive on Sunday and then two more sites on the 2400-block of Kings Avenue on Monday.

In each case, it appears the suspects gained access to the sites because they were unlocked or easy to break into.

Fortunately, the fires were small enough to burn out without spreading to the rest of the job sites, according to Const. Jeff Palmer, West Vancouver Police Department spokesman.

"We're not at the stage where we could figure out a clear motivation for it, whether it's just random mischief or whether there's any particular targeting. It's still early in the process," Palmer said.

Anyone with information about the fires is asked to contact West Vancouver police at 604-925-7300.

In the meantime, construction managers are asked to secure their job sites and keep an eye out for suspicious activity.
