WEST Vancouver police say an anonymous 9-1-1 caller reporting serious threats being made against him has the key to moving the investigation forward.

The unknown man called police on Feb. 25 after he was confronted and seriously threatened by another man on Bruce Street at Royal Avenue in Horseshoe Bay.

The suspect drove off before police arrived on the scene but thanks to a detailed description provided by the victim, West Vancouver constables quickly spotted the suspect's vehicle and stopped him.

"Unfortunately, the complainant disconnected the call to WVPD dispatch before identifying himself and despite ongoing efforts by investigators, West Vancouver police have been unable to identify or contact the complainant since," a WVPD press release states. "West Vancouver Police need to speak again with the complainant to advance the investigation."

To help lure out the complainant and close the case, investigators are releasing an edited version of the original 9-1-1 call in hopes the victim will come forward, or someone will recognize his voice and contact police.

The tape offers little information about suspect, the crime or the victim, though he does say he is from out of town. Further details of the alleged confrontation are being withheld by investigators as part of the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call WVPD at 604-925-7300.
