THE District of West Vancouver is getting set to blow out 100 candles beginning with a family-friendly party at the West Vancouver Memorial Library March 15.

The event, which commemorates the 100th anniversary of West Vancouver's incorporation, is scheduled to feature storytelling, activities and cake.

West Vancouver residents turning 100 this year are especially invited to take part.

The celebration is a prelude to a communitywide party scheduled for June 2, which is slated to include street performers, a classic car show and a beer garden.

There will be no Community Day parade this year due to the scope of the anniversary party.

Fourteen different organizations, including the West Vancouver Historical Society, are scheduled to take part in planning the celebration.

Point Atkinson Light Station, the West Vancouver school district, and the West Vancouver Police Department are all turning 100 this year.
