A West Vancouver Blue Bus driver has now been charged in a crash that left a 60-year-old woman dead in Dundarave.

The collision happened just before 9:30 p.m. on July 30, 2021, at the intersection of Marine Drive and 25th Street. West Vancouver police said at the time that the victim was crossing the street with a family member when the driver of a Blue Bus, which was not in service at the time, struck her in the crosswalk.

She was transported to Vancouver General Hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

After a lengthy investigation by the RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, the Crown swore one Motor Vehicle Act charge of driving without due care and attention against Lixia Yu, a 60-year-old Vancouver resident.

A lawyer representing Yu made an appearance in North Vancouver court on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Yu is due back in court for an arraignment on Feb. 15, court records show.
