North Vancouver RCMP say a bomb threat that was called in to the North Shore Transfer Station Friday morning has been determined to be unfounded.

The RCMP's explosives canine unit searched the transfer station for several hours but did not come up with anything related to the threat. The transfer station at 30 Riverside Drive has since reopened after being evacuated during the investigation.

“It (the threat) came it at 10:46 (a.m.) and the immediate staff (at the transfer station) were evacuated. We don’t know the credibility of the threat so we are treating it as a high-risk situation," said North Vancouver RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Richard De Jong before police gave the all clear.

There was no mandatory evacuation for the surrounding area near the transfer station, but traffic was snarled as the road leading into the dump was blocked at Riverside Drive and Dollarton Highway.

District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services also attended the scene, along with a handful of RCMP members. De Jong said police are continuing their investigation to try and determine where the call came from.
