A North Vancouver motorcycle driver and his passenger were rushed to hospital in the early hours of Friday morning after crashing into a utility pole in the 4000 block of Delbrook Avenue.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 4:30 a.m. The crash happened after the motorcycle driver failed to make a turn near Cartelier Road, said Cpl. Richard De Jong, spokesman for the North Vancouver RCMP.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, and passenger, a 24-year-old man, were both taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, said De Jong. The two men remained in hospital at press time.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Traffic was rerouted for several hours while RCMP traffic analysts examined the scene. De Jong said officers are investigating, and are canvassing neighbours for possible witnesses or surveillance video footage that may have captured the accident.

He said the cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
