TransLink will be bumping up its services to accommodate the swarms of people expected to gather near English Bay for the upcoming Celebration of Light.
Each day of fireworks, the SeaBus will have two vessels in operation and will be providing 15-minute service until midnight. The SeaBus will then run every half-hour, with the last trip leaving Waterfront at 1:22 a.m. If there are still crowds after midnight the SeaBus may extend its 15-minute service.
West Vancouver transit will also supply 15 additional buses to help transfer the large amount of people wishing to head along the Georgia corridor to Ambleside or Dundarave. Bus transit to North Vancouver will remain the same, though TransLink will have buses in reserve if crowds become excessive. The late bus schedule will run as normal with the last bus departing Georgia Street at 3:10 a.m.
The Canada, Expo and Millennium Lines will all be operating at rush-hour service until late in the evening.
The Cordova Street entrance at Waterfront will be closed to everyone except for individuals using mobility devices, families with strollers and SeaBus customers. To access the Expo or Millennium Line from downtown, passengers will need to enter via the Howe Street entrance. To access the Canada Line individuals will need to enter via the Granville Plaza entrance on the west side of Waterfront station.
Unless line-ups have cleared, cyclists will not be allowed on any SkyTrain line leaving downtown Vancouver after 10.pm.
The Celebration of Light runs July 30, Aug. 3 and 6.
