Transit riders will see more service on some North Vancouver bus routes next month.
Metro Vancouver’s transit operator TransLink announced Monday that 53 bus routes are getting more service come Sept. 1, nine of which are travelling to, from or within North Vancouver.
Bus users will see a service boost on routes:
- 28 Phibbs Exchange / Joyce Station
- 130 Metrotown / Phibbs Exchange
- 211 Seymour / Phibbs Exchange / Burrard Station
- 212 Deep Cove / Phibbs Exchange
- 222 Metrotown / Phibbs Exchange
- 227 Lynn Valley / Phibbs Exchange
- 246 Highland / Downtown
- 249 Lonsdale Quay / Delbrook
Post-secondary students heading to and from Capilano University will also see more weekday service on route 245.
TransLink is also bringing back weekday bus trips between the University of British Columbia and West Vancouver on route 44. The bus will depart every 60 minutes from Dundarave towards UBC between 7 and 9 a.m., and every hour from the university towards Dundarave between 3 and 5 p.m. The service was discontinued over the summer.
The service boost is the largest expansion to bus service since 2018 and draws from TransLink’s 2025 Investment Plan, the transit agency said in a media release.
Changes will help address overcrowding, improve customer convenience and extend service hours across the region, the release said.
Kevin Quinn, CEO of TransLink, said adding more service on 53 bus routes in the fall will make it easier for people to get to school, work and everywhere in between.
“This expansion is a major win for Metro Vancouver commuters, which changes the way Metro Vancouver moves,” added George Anderson, parliamentary secretary for transit. “The 2025 Investment Plan is more than just getting new buses and getting people from A to B; it’s about unlocking opportunity, reducing barriers, and connecting communities like never before. When transit works, by reducing overcrowding and improving access to jobs and education, cities thrive.”
The changes will take effect Monday, Sept. 1.
