Canada will be facing off with Canada and Canada in the all-Canadian 2025 Celebration of Light.
Vancouver's annual fireworks competition is pitting teams from the Yukon, Quebec, and Nova Scotia against each other this year as Vancouver's biggest crowds gather for three nights this summer. This is the first time all three teams are from Canada, too.
Who's competing when?
Kicking things off on Saturday, July 19, is Midnight Sun from the Yukon. The team, made up of volunteer pyrotechnicians, was actually in Vancouver for the fireworks showcase a few years ago; they won the 2022 event.
Night two will take place on Wednesday, July 23, when Quebec blows up the sky over the city. Royal Pyrotechnie, from east of Montreal, has been sending fireworks up since the 1960s and regularly takes part in international competitions; they were last part of the Celebration of Light in 2017.
Wrapping up the biggest fireworks event on Canada's west coast is a team from the east coast. On Saturday, July 26, Fireworks FX is coming from Nova Scotia to represent Atlantic Canada.
Tickets for the Celebration of Light
While the fireworks can be enjoyed for free in a variety of places around Vancouver, there will be a ticketed area in Vancouver's West End at and near English Bay Beach.
Tickets for Inukshuk Point, which includes dinner, dessert, and one (alcoholic) drink will be $243 after taxes. Those looking for seats in the grandstand are looking at $68 per ticket. Private cabanas will be available too.
Notes for attendees
Multiple food trucks will be on site throughout the event, offering an array of culinary choices for hungry attendees to purchase.
Festival-goers should arrive early, ahead of large crowds. Parking is limited in the area, and they should be prepared to walk long distances from their parking spot to view the display.
Several road closures will be in effect during the competition in the West End, and some areas will only permit residents to drive through. If possible, take public transportation.
