West Vancouvers Sentinel secondary was evacuated this morning after the school received an unspecified threat.

Students and staff were asked to leave the facility at about 10 a.m. when administrators received the communication suggesting they were at risk.

Investigators have not revealed how the message was delivered or what particular threat was made.

West Vancouver police descended on the Chartwell Drive campus to ensure that everyone was out and to seal the exits. When a two-and-a-half-hour investigation turned up nothing, they deemed the incident a hoax and allowed classes to resume.

Police are attempting to determine who was behind the prank. Anyone with information is asked to contact the WVPD at 604-925-7300.

The news comes just three days before a pair of North Vancouver teens are due to appear in court for allegedly triggering a similar scare at Handsworth secondary last year.
