Dear Editor:
While I applaud the idea of bi-weekly garbage pickup in West Vancouver, two parts of the new order don't make sense to me.
1. In the past residents have been asked not to put their garbage out at night to reduce the risk of bears and other creatures getting in the cans. Now, we're being asked to put out cans between 5 and 7: 30 a.m. Between 5 and 7 a.m. seems to be good animal time. 2. Building contractors are not allowed to start work before 7: 30 a.m. I understand. Why, then are garbage contractors going to be allowed to start clattering and banging around the district at 5 a.m.?
Both points seem to contradict previous regulations in the district. I wonder how this magic has been justified.
