Boys playing a game of tag with toy knives in a North Vancouver park got some unintended attention from police this week after an alarmed bystander called RCMP.
Police were called out at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday to Myrtle Park in the Deep Cove area after a neighbour called to report she’d seen a boy brandishing a large knife.
The woman, who lives close to the park, told police she’d been walking through the park with her two daughters when she was shocked to see a youth holding an eight-inch knife threateningly towards two other boys. The first boy then began to chase the other two.
Police searched the park and found the three boys, who admitted sheepishly that they were playing tag with plastic knives, said Cpl. Richard De Jong of the North Vancouver RCMP. Nobody was harmed.
