Store robber sought

Suspect brandished gun during robberies

POLICE around the Lower Mainland are hoping the public can help them ID a suspect wanted in a string of armed robberies at grocery stores, including three on the North Shore.

The suspect first popped up on police radar after he was captured on security camera footage during a heist at the Safeway on Marine Drive in West Vancouver on March 31. Two weeks later the same man is believed to have committed a robbery at the Super Valu on Connaught Crescent in North Vancouver. He allegedly popped up again in a robbery at Queensdale Supermarket on Lonsdale on May 6 and again at Extra Foods in Vancouver on May 12.

West Vancouver police, North Vancouver RCMP and Vancouver police are hoping someone will be able to tip them off before the man strikes again. He typically brandishes a gun during the heists.

The suspect is described as a white man between 50 and 60 years old. He stands about five feet 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds.

Anyone who can identify this person or provide any information is asked to call Cpl. Gord Reid of the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-969-7515 or Cpl. Mike Kokkoris at 604-969-7516.
