West Vancouver firefighters and engineers are working to find the source of a fuel leak that spilled into Horseshoe Bay on Friday.
District of West Vancouver staff were alerted to the substance pouring out of a storm drain near the Boathouse restaurant in the early afternoon.
“We’ve contained the fuel with a small boom. The boom is about 20 feet by 20 feet and we’re working to identify the source of the fuel. Engineering staff and West Vancouver fire and rescue staff are on site,” said Jeff McDonald, District of West Vancouver spokesman. “The Coast Guard has been notified as well and Environment Canada is on site.”
Crews were still trying to find the source of the spill on Friday evening, but they say the quantity of the fuel in the spill is small.
