Traffic in parts of the North Shore slowed to a crawl Wednesday morning as commuters picked their way through the slushy residue of the nights snowfall and navigated around accidents triggered by slippery conditions.
Westbound lanes on the Upper Levels highway were jammed shortly after 6:30 a.m. when a collision near Lonsdale Avenue in North Vancouver reportedly disrupted flow.
Traffic resumed after the scene had been cleaned up only to be jammed again in the eastbound lanes when another collision took place on the other side of the same stretch of highway.
Cars remained bumper-to-bumper there late into the morning.
Wintry conditions also disrupted public transit when icy roads forced TransLink to change West Vancouvers 254 British Properties bus to a snow route, and cut short North Vancouvers 210 and 228 buses at Lynn Valley Centre, its 230 at the Upper Levels and its 229 at Tempe Crescent.
All routes were back to normal by 11 a.m.
