A Montreal man who is wanted for crimes in two other provinces was arrested last month after allegedly trying to defraud a North Vancouver store during the busy holiday shopping season.

The 49-year-old walked into the business in the 1900block of Marine Drive Dec. 12, asked for store credit and produced what investigators say was stolen I.D. The man's behaviour aroused employees' suspicions, prompting them to call police. North Vancouver RCMP took the suspect into custody, and have kept him behind bars since, pending a court appearance.

Boulos Khoury has been charged with identity theft in the case. He's wanted on two outstanding warrants in Quebec for possession and trafficking in forged documents and on another warrant in Alberta for fraud. Khoury has an extensive criminal record, according to police.
