It was a very rough parking job for a 2013 Range Rover that rolled from a West Vancouver street and over a retaining wall, ending up on its side in a neighbour’s front yard Wednesday afternoon.

Luckily nobody was nearby and nobody was injured when the driverless luxury vehicle took its unexpected plunge.

The vehicle itself likely sustained several thousand dollars’ worth of damage in body work, said Const. Jeff Palmer, spokesman for the West Vancouver Police Department.

“It is a high value vehicle,” said Palmer. “It landed on its side from a height of four-and-a-half feet.”

Police were called to the 1100 block of Esquimalt Avenue around 5 p.m. after a neighbour heard a crash. Police determined the unoccupied vehicle had simply rolled from where it had been parked in the street. Palmer said it wasn’t clear yet if the car had a mechanical malfunction or had been parked incorrectly.
