Prince George RCMP is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect who allegedly stole a taxi on Feb. 23, 2021.

Prince George Mounties are asking for the public's help to identify a suspect who allegedly stole a taxi.

RCMP spokesperson Cst. Jennifer Cooper says police received a report just before 5 a.m. on Feb. 23 that a taxi was taken from a house in the 3600-block Romanin Place.

The driver of the taxi had left the vehicle to warm up with the keys inside, but when he came back out, it was missing.

Cooper says the taxi was found parked and empty roughly 25 minutes later. Police were able to pull surveillance from inside the vehicle and are looking for information on the suspect pictured above.

Police are reminding the public once again not to leave vehicles running with keys inside for any length of time.

"It takes mere seconds for thieves to take your vehicle in these circumstances," Cooper said.

Anyone with information about the suspect involved is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300, anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or go online to www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca
