The overnight windstorm and resulting power outage has delayed the start of classes at a dozen schools in North Vancouver.
Power is back on at seven schools that are now set to open for classes at 11 a.m.: Canyon Heights, Carson Graham, Cleveland, Handsworth, Larson, Montroyal and Westview. Five schools were still without power as of 10:30 this morning and will have a delayed start of 12:30 p.m.: Braemar, Carisbrook and Dorothy Lynas elementaries as well as Handsworth and Mountainside secondary.
If power is not restored by noon, parents of those students affected will receive an alert by phone at that time, according to the school district website. Parents are advised to check for updates here.
