Holiday merrymakers are being warned not to drink and drive as the RCMP's annual CounterAttack enforcement blitz aimed at stopping impaired drivers gets underway this weekend.

Officers will be out in force conducting road checks, according to Supt. Chris Kennedy, officer in charge of the North Vancouver RCMP detachment.

Anyone intending to drink as part of their holiday cheer should make sure they have an alternate way home such as public transit, taxi, Operation Red Nose or a designated driver, said Kennedy.
