THE FOLLOWING is a selection of volunteer opportunities from various community organizations, made available through Volunteer North Shore, a service of North Shore Community Resources Society.
Board Member: The Board of Directors of North Shore Community Resources Society, a local non-profit multi-service agency serving infants through seniors, has openings for a treasurer and members-at-large. Meeting six times yearly, it is a policy board with 15 members who are encouraged to share their expertise through committee work.
Care Team Volunteer: Volunteer in this program enhances the quality of life and independence of persons living with HIV/AIDS at home, in hospital or at a hospice.
Receptionist: 411 Seniors Centre is looking for a volunteer to greet walk-in clients and direct clients to the appropriate department; provide information about the agency, answer the phone and transfer clients to appropriate staff. Record keeping and other duties as required.
Seniors' Outreach Program Volunteer: Volunteers who enjoy working in a natural setting and have an appreciation for cultural and natural history are needed to help The Elders Council for Parks in British Columbia in hosting 10 free interpretive natural history programs at the Heritage Centre, 1620 Mount Seymour Rd., North Vancouver and along the trails of the surrounding rainforest of Mount Seymour Provincial Park. This project is to celebrate B.C. Parks Centennial and the dedicated pioneers who helped to establish parks protected areas since 1911.
