Highway traffic was snarled during the Monday morning rush hour in North Vancouver after 200 litres of hydraulic oil spilled on to the road near Mountain Highway.

Reports of the spill, which came from a blown line on a truck, first came in before 5 a.m. Monday morning.

Lane closures and detours impacted westbound lanes between Mountain Highway and Lynn Valley Road. Traffic was snarled for a couple of hours as crews worked to clean up the spill with absorbent pads.

The spill did not appear to have impacted any waterways or storm drains, according to a spokesman from the Ministry of Environment.

The impacted lanes were reopened to traffic two hours later.
