A North Vancouver man is the happy winner of $1 million from Lotto 6/49.

Elpidio Cabahug’s lucky numbers came up in the July 2 draw.

“I found out I won when I was shopping,” Cabahug said in a release from BCLC. “I went to check my numbers [on the self-scanner] and when I saw the screen I asked the cashier, ‘What happened to the scanner?’ I was happy!”

Cabahug said he plans to help pay for his son’s university education, give some of his winnings to his family and put his money away in savings.

“It is a blessing,” he said.

Cabahug purchased his ticket at a lotto kiosk at Park Royal in West Vancouver.

So far in 2025, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $46 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
