North Vancouver City promotes Penway

Longtime City of North Vancouver planner Gary Penway has been promoted to director of the community development department.

Longtime City of North Vancouver planner Gary Penway has been promoted to director of the community development department.

Penway, previously the departments deputy director, has held a variety of planning and project management positions with the city over the past 25 years.

Over the years Gary has demonstrated strong leadership qualities and solid expertise in the area of planning and development, said city manager Ken Tollstam, in a release. His increased role and expanded responsibilities will greatly benefit the community development department and the city.

Penways promotion comes days after the previous director, Richard White, was himself promoted into the new position of deputy city manager. These moves in turn followed recent changes in the leadership of the citys engineering and human resources departments.
