North Van RCMP renew plea for info on missing Lynn Valley man

Two years after a Lynn Valley man set out for a walk and never returned, North Vancouver RCMP are issuing a fresh appeal for tips about Vincent Che

Two years after a Lynn Valley man set out for a walk and never returned, North Vancouver RCMP are issuing a fresh appeal for tips about Vincent Che.

In April 2019, police put an urgent request for assistance, including asking people to check their backyards and sheds, after Che disappeared on April 2.

"It's been more than two years," said Sgt. Peter DeVries, North Vancouver RCMP spokesman in a release. "Vincent Che's family have anguished, not knowing where their father is, or what may have happened to him."

At the time, Che’s family members said he was in good physical health but his memory was fading.

In the following days, investigators and family members sourced surveillance footage that showed Che walking east Coleman Street around 10:25 a.m. on April 2, 2019.

“He knew the Lynn Valley area and was familiar with local trails. He often walked around Rice Lake. However, all efforts by our officers and search and rescue personnel in the weeks and months following his disappearance have been unsuccessful," said  DeVries.

North Shore Rescue members dispatched a drone into portions of Lynn Creek that would be unsafe to travel on foot but also had no luck.

DeVries said investigators are hopeful a new appeal for tips will lead to answers.

Che is described as an Asian man. He is five-foot-seven and weighs 150 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a blue vest, jeans, a brown shirt and distinctive bright green running shoes.

Anyone with information about Che or his whereabouts is asked to call North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311.
